Nepal and China reach initial deal on rhino transfer in the world


Nepali and Chinese officials have reached a preliminary agreement on rhino handover.
            Deputy Director General of the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation (DNPWC), Gopal Bhattarai and Meng Xianling, Executive Director of the Wildlife Flora Import and Export Management Office of China, signed on the preliminary agreement to this effect on behalf of their respective countries at a function organized in Guangzhou, China, according to the DNPWC.

            The Nepali delegation comprised of the Chief Conservation Officer of the Chitwan National Park, Ram Chandra Kandel, senior veterinary doctor Kamal Prasad Gaire, customs official at Tribhuvan International Airport Man Bahadur Poudel, Minister for Forests and Soil Conservation Shankar Bhandari's personal secretary Kamal Hari GC and assistant forest officer Bishwa Sherchan.
            
Before the signing ceremony, the Nepali delegation held talks with the Vice Administrator of the Ministry of Forests, Government of China. Matters of common interest between the two countries including forest and environment conservation were discussed on the occasion, the Ministry stated.
            Nepal has decided to gift two pairs of rhinos to China as per its request. The Ministry has stated that a minister level agreement would be initialled on the handover of rhinos very soon. RSS
